A play dough tea party

Last week we had a teddy bears tea party, so whilst we all enjoyed delicious treats like chocolate and cakes, we decided to make our bears something to 'eat' too.

Using the play dough recipe over there >>>>> on the left hand side, we colour one in pink and 'flavoured' with strawberry essence, another in blue textured with glitter and the other we coloured and flavoured with cocoa powder.

We made hot chocolate drinks with cocoa powder sprinkles, complete with straws and biscuits - a jammy dodger, chocolate & jam star and a chocolate finger covered with dessicated coconut.

We then made a variety of cupcakes in cases and coverd with 'real' cake decorations - hundreds and thousands, sugar balls, sugar hearts, orange strands and dessicated coconut.

They were all popped in a mini picnic basket with some gingham mats and then laid out for the little bears to enjoy :-)

My 2 year old LOVED this activity, especially as she got to decorated the cakes with real cake decorations and the scents of the dough made them all the more realistic too.

Play dough fun (fine motor skills) and then some role-play with the results afterwards (imaginative skills)!!
